Rich dark chocolate, illuminated by the tears in your eyes
A gentle breeze blowing a few stray strands of hair across your face
A sole street lamp above throws long shadows all around us
The only thing on my mind is the salty sweet taste of your lips
The feel of my calloused hand softly caressing your neck
Heart pounding in my chest
Because nothing in the world could or should feel as good as this
The night air sweeps around us, wrapping us in a blanket of perfection
Secure in the knowledge that this second in time will be preserved forever in clarity
Breathing in the smell of your cherry scented hair as if it’s the last breath I’ll ever take
Your body pressed against mine
Realization dawning that we were made to fit together like this
An all inspiring awe consuming everything else that could possibly matter except the two of us
Standing
In the middle of the street
But then just like that
The memory ends
Already the exact way the moonlight shone upon your eyes eludes me
And I can’t recall the precise tilt of your head
Because I’m here, and you’re there
And every day that has passed since,
That wonderful
Beautiful
Love inducing moment we shared
Fades farther into the recesses of my mind
Until a longing feeling, and a slight sense of loss is all that remains
