Yearning
An inexplicable pull from
Somewhere above my stomach
And below the aching cavity in my chest
My heart thudding erratically
My lungs forgetting to expand
Until I suddenly draw gasping breaths

Fingers shaking
Sweat-glistened palms
Clenched into tight fists
Desperate to hide
How deeply my desire for you consumes me

I reach out
Arms outstretched
Taut
Jerking you closer
As the need to be one with you
Overrides any lingering self-respect

Inhaling your aroma
Sharp notes of sickly sweet poison
Waft through my nostrils
As our lips connect
This devouring urge to give you all of me
While I cling to bare scraps of you
